Team Work Makes The Dream Work!
Team Work Makes The Dream Work!
I grew up like many, on the rough side of the mountain. In an environment not productive to society which statistically only gives birth to destructive behaviors and negative dispositions. My upbringing was surrounded by drug abuse and alcohol use. Living in a household that survived from welfare assistance, my childhood was filled with social dysfunctions and the neglecting of learning. Like many in my neighborhood, I adapted and became a part of the normative reality of many urban youth, as a result, I became a product of my community. In the streets of Oakland California at the age of 13, I began to sell drugs which at the time seem like a promising career; but I soon found out at the age of 16 that all glitter isn't gold when I was indicted for 6 counts of drug possession with the intent to sell. While running from the law for one and a half years, I continued to sell drugs. But like all unlawful things my journey of hiding from the law came to an end. I was 17 and a half years old when the law finally caught up to me and arrested me on the charge of 6 counts for the sale of narcotics and the deal that was offered to me by the judge, was 6 years in (CYA) California Youth Authority. While being locked up in the juvenile detention center and awaiting the outcome, I was blessed to see my 18th birthday, which resulted in me officially being an adult in a youth detention center. Through Gods protective hand of mercy, I was released with all charges dismissed and given another chance to be productive in my community. But like many of our youth today, my perspective remained the same along with my environment and I returned back to the only lifestyle I knew shortly afterwards. At the age of 19, I was arrested for the sales of narcotics and (again a lesson not learned) which I received 1 year in Santa Rita county jail. While being incarcerated this time I began to think differently and to desire a change; because I knew that if I continued on the same path, my life will remain on the wrong path. 1 year in the county jail is what they call 8 months and 20 days, a sentence I endured with many sleepless nights. After my release from this loss of time with now 5 years of felony probation hanging over my head and shadowing my every move, each step I took seemed to me like walking on egg shells (as they would say) as I attempted to become once again a hood star. But just like statistics show, my freedom wouldn't be long. At the age of 20, once again I found myself back incarcerated but this time facing 5 years in the state penitentiary. My journey has been one of heartache and pain; I grew up without a relationship with my biological father, and was raised in a drug infested home. I always felt I had to make a name for myself in my neighborhood. But while I was seeking fame, I found myself inside of a prison cell hoping that one day I would receive one more chance. After surviving close to two years from my three year deal, my release date arrived and I made a vow to never return to prison again. (A vow that I kept) Today my passion is to provide others with the tools that I didn't have, advice that I always needed, and love that I never felt. My desire is to encourage individuals and provide them with hope to make it through this cold hearted world. If my life could help someone than my life wouldn't be lived in vain!
An open book that is often misunderstood. To know me is to know my story because we often judge a book by its cover but never take the time to examine the contents within. I am a believer of Jesus Christ, a husband of a beautiful wife, and a father of four children, all boys who I hope to see grow up to become better men than I have been. It is through my relationship with Jesus Christ that I developed a new perspective on living which has molded me into a man of hope, love, and peace. My motivation for delivering a New Perspective to others is derived from my relationship with my Lord and Savior as well as my boys. I have witnessed first hand what a healthy household could produce and my desire is to provide the right tool's to help someone else see life with hope in their eyes. I love hard, my trust is hard to gain, and I can see the good and the bad in this world but whatever I do I strive to put forth my best effort. My goal is to guide in love, equip with knowledge and empower with vision!
I love reading and learning. It's something about being still and quiet and allowing your mind to go with the story. I also love being able to teach other's what I have learned because it brings me a since of purpose, as if I'm not just existing but living. I love to be able to help people think a little better than they did before. My passion is to guide people to the answers to their needs in life. My mantra is; "Team Work Makes the Dream Work"; because if a brother or sister desires change, than I'm available and willing to help them accomplish it. I love FAMILY and I believe that when the family is operating as God designed, then life will function at its best. My desire is to see others prosper as God intended, and I know in order for that to happen others need to first see themselves as victorious above all of life's circumstances.
